I want to take a moment and recognize some people. We all face issues and trials in our lives, but there are certain people who had to face something extra that threw their entire life into a spiral. Cancer comes in so many different forms. Thankfully we have made many medical advances that help cancer patients, but they still come at a cost.
I watched someone close to me go through cancer that is rare for that person’s age. The doctors waited longer than they should have because they didn’t believe it was cancer, which led to other complications during treatment. Through out all of this, this person always had a smile for the nurses and their family, was optimistic even with a harsh diagnosis. Having to watch this person go through all of this also taught me so much. Cancer is no joke, and it is not easy to go through. I learned a lot about how to support someone who is going through that. That info is in a different post, this is about recognizing the people who I’ve watched go through it.
To my sister, you are strong and resilient. Happy one year in remission!
To my aunt, I am glad your treatment was short and you overcame this obstacle.
To my mom, I am glad we caught yours early and I hope it stays away.
To my grandma, the second round is even harder than the first and I wish there was more I could do to make this easier for you. I admire how you have dealt with everything.
To everyone else in my life who has had to deal with this, I see how hard you fought/ are fighting. I am here to support you however I can, however you need.
Comment to give a shoutout to someone you want to recognize.
